Ban Fireworks on Non-Holidays
Fireworks should be banned on non-holidays. They are traumatizing for animal companions, wildlife, and humans with post-traumatic stress. They are a source of pollution and create waste in our environment. There is no reason fireworks should be going off for days/weeks before and after holidays.

Greg, I have ptsd and a cat and it doesn’t even bother me. Things were cancelled due to covid this year so people had a little fun on their own. Give it a rest!
You Karen’s have gotten worse with this pandemic

It was a major problem this summer in the east end. There's no excuse for fireworks outside of holidays. They terrify pets and bother people trying to sleep. Time to get rid of them on any day but holidays. If the above bylaw does exist it should be amended.

There is a bylaw stating only within 5 days (I believe) of certain holidays are fireworks allowed without a special permit. I agree with you though.

Boo hoo, I have to get up early. Clearly you have no life whining about someone else Karen. If it’s such a problem, close the window and you even want to threaten someone’s life over it! Proof of privilege by you. You’re entitled to your opinion as I am entitled to call you out on it. Clearly I have a life. I’m not here whining about others Karen

I have a life , I also have a job that requires me to get up at an early hour . The idiots that choose to set off fireworks at midnight on a Wednesday , a week after the holiday are the ones that make me wish fireworks were never invented .
I don’t have ptsd but I’d like to give it to the morons who think it’s appropriate and neighbourly to disrupt an entire subdivision.
Everyone is entitled to their opinions. Maybe you need to “ get a life “ -

In response to the Anonymous person who commented: "I have PTSD and fireworks do not bother me at all. These Karen’s need to find something better to do"
That's fantastic for you. That was one of five points I made. And you do not represent every person with PTSD. Have some consideration for others and leave your ignorance elsewhere.

Understandably fireworks are meant for enjoyment. When they are set off at midnight in a townhouse complex , they are meant to torment . I agree 100% that fireworks should have much tighter time parameters. Permitted on the holiday day. From Dusk to 10:00pm .
Unfortunately enforcing this will be an issue . By the time a complaint is filed and responded to , the fireworks would be done . Bylaw officers would be constantly chasing .
People just need to be more considerate of their neighbours. -

Fireworks are extremely dangerous and very hazardous to our environment/earth. Fireworks are a total waste of our tax dollars and unnecessary to celebrate holidays.

Fireworks in Barrie, ON are currently permitted five days before and on both the Victoria Day and Canada Day holidays. This is simply unacceptable! It’s not only our pets who are are traumatized by the load noise and flashing lights—so too, are many of our surrounding wildlife. Also, those individuals who suffer from PTSD and other mental health illness/trauma are greatly affected. The elderly within our community also often frightened. Fireworks should only be permitted on the holiday day itself, if at all. Please consider the entire community.
