consider offering interest-free monthly payment plans for property taxes to residents who are struggling to pay and are currently in arrears
This option would help homeowners manage their payments more sustainably while still ensuring the City receives owed taxes.

Restrict Parking on Huronia Rd between Lockhart and Mapleview
On-street parking on Huronia Rd between Lockhart and Mapleview has been causing serious safety issues, as well as impeding the flow of traffic for several years. I suggest the City take action and install "no parking signs" along that stretch of Huronia.

Consider Pedestrian-First / People-First Street Design for New Developments
As Barrie continues to grow, the design of new developments presents a critical opportunity to shape the kind of city we want to live in. Adopting a pedestrian-first, people-first approach to street design is not just an urban planning trend, it is a proven strategy for building safer, healthier, and more economically vibrant communities.
Prioritizing pedestrians means designing streets that are safe, accessible, and inviting for all users, including children, seniors, and individuals with mobility challenges. Features such as wider sidewalks, protected crossings, traffic calming measures, and integrated cycling infrastructure reduce the risk of accidents and encourage more active modes…

Add sidewalks within Reid Drive and King Street Area
The plazas built within Reid Drive and King Street offer many services for Barrie residents, however, they are unwalkable and unsafe, yet, people are frequently walking in these areas to attend services such as Athletic Kulture, Club Pilates, Jujitsu, Axe throwing, etc...Additionally, people frequently speed down these areas and walkers are at risk of getting hit.

Expand On-Street Parking - Franks Way
I am a new homeowner here in Barrie, I now live on a relatively new street Franks Way just off of Burton in the South End. Between the stretch of 16 houses there is a small permitted area for on-street parking of 5 vehicles. Over the span of the several months living here this small area is CONSTANTLY full resulting in residents of this street and their guests parking in the "No Parking Area". Multiple neighbours have been issued tickets simply because their driveway is full and so is the very tiny area designated on the street itself.

Adopt a hydrant
Promote residents to adopt their local fire hydrant and keep them clear of snow for quick access if they’re ever needed.

Lower the height of speed bumps on Hanmer
The speedbumps on Hanmer are ridiculously high/steep. And I believe there are three sets of them.
Speedbumps in other parts of the city seem lower, or possibly they are longer, so that you don’t feel a giant jolt on the way down from the bump.1 voteTo confirm: The heights of the Hanmer Drive speed cushions were measured by the City's Linear Infrastructure group and were found to be constructed at similar heights to the other locations. A list of all locations and more information about traffic calming is available at http://www.barrie.ca/TrafficCalming

Better bus service
The buses here still need a lot of work. New system barely ever meets up with other buses if you have to connect. The new station feels like it is in the middle of nowhere. No buses ever really match up with GO Train arrivals either. The frequency also needs to be stepped up

Presto Card System for Barrie Transit
To the City of Barrie and Council,
Barrie Transit should adopt the system required to allow riders to pay not only by exact cash, but by debit, credit and Presto. A majority of the GTA and York Regional Transit accept Presto, Debit and Credit, allowing riders a more versatile and convenient way of travelling between cities such as Hamilton, Toronto, Aurora, and even Ottawa. The Barrie Transit system remains old and out dated.
Countless times I have witnessed newcomers to Barrie trying to pay for Barrie Transit with their Presto cards, assuming that Barrie is the same as any other…
