I think this is a lovely idea, and would attract more people to be members of the city community centres, bringing in more money to improve and expand facilities and programs.

Yes yes yes! This is so important! The folks who run the buses are higher earning government officials who drive everywhere, and don't take the bus at all.
It is so frustrating that it takes 45 minutes to go from my neighbourhood to the painswich library, when it takes about 55 minutes to walk there. There are many underserved areas of the city, and the buses don't run nearly often enough or have enough lines.
People say ridership is too low for better routes, but ridership will only increase if the routes get BETTER. Not the other way around.
Routes like the Highway 400 route, which connect areas that otherwise don't have connections via public transit, are so needed, and so useful. Amazing idea.

I think this is a good idea for RESIDENTIAL roads. All the roads mentioned in the comments: Harvey, Mapleview, etc, are NOT residential roads.
That being said, I think those roads should also be slowed down in the areas where they specifically intersect with communities.
I get that Barrie is largely a commuter city, but pedestrian safety is important, and slower traffic allows for more interesting/diverse storefronts, community events, and nightlife

I'm not sure I agree with expanding the highway more, but there should be more/better lighting. That being said- wouldn't that be a provincial responsibility?

Just out of curiosity- how do you know that the hangtags were less expensive than the app? Was that in a city budget document somewhere/ If so I would be interested in seeing those documents. I agree than it would be more beneficial in that case for us to return to the hangtag system- and allocate those funds somewhere else.
Also- are you implying that city officials could possibly have money invested in the company? I looked online and they are a publically traded company.
Does Hotspot have any information in their user agreement about 3rd party information? Do they host their hotspot servers here in Canada, or abroad in the Netherlands?
Would love to know, thanks in advance!

In general the facilities and programs for homeless folks here in Barrie needs to be significantly better!
