Build a splash pad southwest end.
We need a splash pad at the southwestsouthwest end of Barrie. Sometimes it is difficult to cross the hwy to get to the lake, and Lampman Lane is the only other splash pad we have. I suggest Holly Rec Centre park.

A staff memo from the Engineering Department was circulated to City Council (General Committee) on January 7, 2019. Please refer to the full memo: https://bit.ly/3fznPtE . In short, staff concluded that “Once the Outdoor Recreation Facility Study has been completed in 2019, and the Hewitt’s Recreation Centre splash pad has been opened, staff propose to re-evaluate the splash pad service level recommendations. Upon completion of the re-evaluation, any proposed projects that were identified will be included into the capital planning process.”

As per the established process for suggestions that reach 500 votes (Under Review), City councillors had three possible decisions in response to the memo in January 2019:
1. Refer the memo to staff for a report (suggestion would later be classified as Completed or Received for Information)
2. Refer the memo to a reference committee (suggestion would later be classified as Completed or Received for Information)
3. Take no action (suggestion would be classified as Received for Information)
No immediate action was taken in response to this memo in 2019, and this suggestion has therefore been classified as Received for Information. However please review the 2019 Outdoor Recreation Facility Study at https://bit.ly/3fGz5EQ for information about future proposed splash locations, as this report helps guide the City in making decisions about where and what type of future facilities should be prioritized in the future.

Parks Planning is targeting for a memo to Council in late summer/early fall 2018. The memo will outline general information related to the resources/timelines required to research the requirements for implementing the suggestion. Additional information regarding potential costs and revenues would also be provided if available. The memo would be placed on the circulation list and Access Barrie will provide notification if its availability via this forum.

South east Barrie needs a splash pad. It's difficult to go to Lampman's from the south east end and the one downtown at Centennial is too small.

The South east end is in need of a summer splash park for kids. There's almost zero for them to do on this end of town!!!
