Outdoor COVERED Ball Hockey Rinks

Make more outdoor covered ice rinks / ball hockey rinks throughout Barrie (similar to Thornton's). We are a hockey town, let's give kids and families a way to get out and enjoy the rinks no matter the weather.

This suggestion was included in a staff report to General Committee on August 14, 2024 (see paragraph 22).

The approved staff report recommends this request and all similar requests for park facilities, amenities and stand-alone studies for individual sports be directed to a community-driven Parks Strategic Plan to allow for the cohesive, sustainable, and equitable planning of a new vision for all recommended park elements across the city.

The Parks Strategic Plan is underway and is looking at all sporting requirements for outdoor rec facilities with a report to Council anticipated in 2027.
