Increase Transfer Ticket Duration + Seamless Bus Transfer at Downtown Barrie Terminal
City of Barrie must improve their public bus transit scheduling. A family member is in her late 50s and her commute home can take up to one hour simply to travel from North Barrie to South Barrie.
It is unreasonable for a daily commute to be this long just traveling within the city. Additionally. a person should not have to pay the bus fare 2 times for one trip. The issue occurs when a north-end bus arrives at the Downtown Barrie Bus Terminal, and the bus heading south departs the platform within the same instant. This prevents passengers from making their transfer.
It is neccessary that bus drivers should wait 1 minute upon the arrival of another bus to ensure passengers from the newly arrived bus can transfer to their next bus to complete their commute to the opposite end of Barrie within a reasonable time.
Barrie City Transit should also increase their transfer duration. It is currently only 75 minutes, most of this time is spent on the bus just travelling to the inital destination. If a passenger misses their bus from the Downtown Barrie Bus terminal, it is not the passengers fault if their current bus arrives one minute late, or the next bus required to complete thier commute does not wait for passengers to transfer before leaving the platform The passenger will have to waste up to 30 mins of their time (sometimes everyday of the week) waiting for the next bus to arrive during which time the transfer expires, and they must pay another fee to complete their commute home.
This is simply unreasonable, and is proof that City of Barrie requires better transit coordination since it is very incovenient for residents who depend on public transit daily.
