  1. Idling

On my way between Leacock to St. Vincent I stop at 6 or 7 lights all while driving at the speed limit. When I drive in Hamilton, Ontario many traffic lights are coordinated and can greatly reduce idling at a stop light. It also makes getting from point A to point B much more pleasant while reducing carbon footprint and eliminating speeding,

Traffic Services staff monitor all major roadways daily to minimize traffic delays and disruption, using traffic signal software, video, and GPS technology to continuously monitor signals and flow along Barrie’s major arterial and collector routes. For more information please refer to “Traffic Monitoring” at http://www.barrie.ca/traffic

  2. Changing speed limit in Burton Avenu Alandale

50 kilometer per hour speed in BURTON Avenue from BAYVIEW TO ESSA ROAD way over the capacity of this road. The distance between those two light s not adequate enough for any car to reach to the speed and keep it for a reasonable distance. The result is lots of gas consomption ,break wear out and a lot of pollution, noise and ashfalt destruction and off course annoying neighborhood.
Kindly please reconsider the situation and if you agree bring down the speed limit to 35 in order to be compatible with other roads and off course the real life.

  3. Renumber lockhart road back to the numbers Innisfil use. It is confusing delivery drivers and dangerous for first responders.

Just because your city computer system cannot handle Street numbers that are not contiguous is not a reason to make life difficult for humans.

  4. Expand On-Street Parking - Franks Way

I am a new homeowner here in Barrie, I now live on a relatively new street Franks Way just off of Burton in the South End. Between the stretch of 16 houses there is a small permitted area for on-street parking of 5 vehicles. Over the span of the several months living here this small area is CONSTANTLY full resulting in residents of this street and their guests parking in the "No Parking Area". Multiple neighbours have been issued tickets simply because their driveway is full and so is the very tiny area designated on the street itself.

    This designated…

  7. Annual Sunnidale Park Honey Festival

SUNNIDALE Park is Barrie’s largest part. We should have a honey festival every summer where local farmers and producers can show off how they make honey and sell their products locally. It also shows support for bumblebees, who are endangered, and who are vital to our ecological balance.

  8. Better signs for no parking if not barrie resident

The parking lot at Centennial beach/park that is only for barrie residents should have clear signage that indicate that if you are not a barrie resident you will be ticketed. The day I visited I could see that the parking meters were covered I therefore assumed that parking was free as it was a holiday and there where no other signs. Even when I walked up to the meter the front of the meter had not signs. When I got back to my car I had a ticket. Parking restrictions should be clearly indicated with signes. When I when back…

Update: A staff report regarding a city-wide pickleball strategy is no longer expected to go to City Council in the near future. Strabane Park is identified as a potential location for conversion to a pickleball court, and through discussions with the Barrie Pickleball Association it is forecasted for 2023. A public meeting would likely be held at a future date to seek input into the conversion from a tennis court.

  10. Reduce speed zone on Adelaide St

The current speed limit along Adelaide St, especially at the sharp corner in front of the townhouses (52 Adelaide St) is too fast. It should be reduced, speed limit signs posted AND more strictly enforced by police. Numerous people are seen driving what appears to be fast (current speed limit is too fast for the sharp turn) around the corner and having to drive on the wrong side of the street to "straighten the bend".
Though people can park on the one side of the street along Adelaide including this corner, people do not park on the street along the…

  11. Speed reduction on Hanmer St. This has become an extremely busy street which I don't think was to carry the volume that it does.

Hanmer St between St. Vincent and Bayfield has become extremely busy. I don't think it was meant to have the volume of traffic that it has. How about reducing speed limit and adding bike lane or making it a one way St. Lights were installed but they do nothing to reduce speed and volume instead people gun it to try and beat the light. There must be something that can be done, so resident can feel a little safer and enjoy a little more peace and quiet, thanks

Please note that the Traffic By-law includes the stipulation that no person shall park a vehicle “in front of or within 1.5 metres of the entrance to a public lane or private driveway…”.

The consolidated Traffic By-law is available for download at www.barrie.ca/bylaws.

Please report by-law violations directly to Enforcement Services by calling 705-739-4241 at the time of violation so an officer can attend.

  15. ATVs allowed on roads

I think Barrie should allow ATVs on roads. You can currently ride dirt bikes and snowmobiles on the roads in Barrie if they are plated.

  16. Remove metal poles at dunlop st

The new metal poles on Dunlop where the road narrows is extremely dangerous. There is NO WHERE for anyone to pull over for emergency vehicles and this causes major problems for curb side pickup as well as pickup and drop off of Uber passengers. They need to removed and some form of parking allowed on that stretch so the main road can not be obstructed

  17. Return washroom hours

A lot of people are always trying to access the southshore washrooms after the lockdown with the new 5pm closure,

We are now in phase 3 and would like to see hours return back to 9pm I've seen lots of people try to go in or I'll tell them its closed when i think they are headed to the washrooms.

If it doesnt change we will see a lot more people decide to go behind the dumpsters.

  19. residential street parking - south Barrie

I think that a driveway should be for cars/motorbikes but not for boats & trailer or multiple trailers or ATV's or snowblowers in the summertime. When these items take the place of the vehicle and the vehicle is parked on the street night and day, after day after week after month, then I think a permit should be served. Street parking should be the exception not the norm. Builders are creating shorter driveways these days and people are beginning to use their garages for storage not necessarily for car(s). Hence the side streets are filling up and it creates for…

  20. Dive park for scuba and freedivers located at Johnsons beach please!

Hi you may see me out floating in my wetsuit I am taking up freediving and I do not wish to be killed by the careless boaters that you allow to operate in Kempenfelt Bay. So what I am proposing is a dedicated dive park so that boaters will be aware and stay out of the designated area. This would be beneficial as well because there are no active swim areas with over 30ft of depth something that is sought after as a diver. Thank you for your time.
