What does it mean when a suggestion is “Under Review?"

When a suggestion reaches 500 votes, it will be noted as Under Review and votes are returned to users. Access Barrie will notify the relevant lead department for suggestion review. This lead department will be responsible for writing a memo to City Council

If the suggestion is deemed largely administrative in nature and does not require a significant amount of resources to implement (staff time or funds), the memo will outline the suggestion received and the staff response.

If the suggestion is policy-related and/or requires a significant amount of resources to implement, the memo will outline the suggestion that has been received, along with general information related to the resources/timelines required to research the requirements for implementing the suggestion. Additional information regarding potential costs and revenues would be provided if available.

The memo would be placed on the circulation list and Access Barrie will provide notification if its availability via the forum. Council can then decide to:

  • refer the memo to staff for a report.
Suggestion status will later be Completed or Received for Information; updates will be provided via the forum.

    OR

  • refer the memo to a reference committee.
Suggestion status will later be updated to Completed or Received for Information; updates will be provided via the forum.

    OR

  • take no action.
Suggestion status will be updated to Received for Information.
